Information

Liposuction, medically known as “liposuction” or “lipoplasty,” is a cosmetic surgery procedure in which excess fat tissue in the body is surgically removed by suction. This procedure is performed to reduce fat deposits in specific areas, to improve body contours, and to create a more sculpted body contour. Liposuction targets fat deposits in areas that are not usually corrected by diet and exercise.

    How is Liposuction Performed?

The liposuction procedure generally includes the following steps:

    1. Anesthesia: Anesthesia is usually applied to prevent pain and discomfort during the surgical procedure. Local anesthesia (numbing only the area to be treated) or general anesthesia (providing pain and unconsciousness by putting the patient to sleep) may be preferred.

    2. Incision Sites: The surgeon makes small incisions to remove fatty tissue. These incisions are usually placed in natural folds or hidden areas of the skin.

    3. Fluid Injection: To make it easier to remove fat cells, the surgeon may inject a special fluid into the fat tissue. This fluid loosens the fat cells and makes them easier to remove.

    4. Fat Suction: The surgeon suctions and removes fat cells with the help of a special vacuum device (liposuction cannula). This step is done to shape the body contour and reduce fat accumulation.

    5. Incision Closure: Incisions are usually closed with stitches or tissue adhesives.

    6. Recovery Period: Swelling, bruising and discomfort may be experienced during the recovery period after surgery. The skin and stitches heal over time.

Liposuction is a procedure performed to correct and shape the body contours. However, liposuction is not a solution for extreme weight loss. In order to achieve ideal results, it is important to pay attention to the plastic surgeon’s recommendations before surgery and have realistic expectations.
